In other words, why do a lot better (or more valuable) when it is prohibited or out of bounds? stolen moments, forbidden treasures, objects illegal ...
I think it starts with the myth of the forbidden - While there are things that are bad for you - like touching a hot stove - the others are prohibited for any number of reasons to avoid being mocked. n funny things prohibited. I think the cupcakes are just given you get sick of them fast enough - which are a bit ugly - but that is only allowed to special moments and special occasions, they acquire special skills that are not really part of the muffin.
